Ceilidhs in Antigonish are a common event. They have been part of the Antigonish Culture for many years. Established as the Highland Heart of Nova Scotia, Antigonish is the home of the oldest continuously running Highland Games in North America since 1868. Each year people attend from all over the globe to witness Scottish events and share in our culture and history. Antigonish is rich in Scottish culture with two Scottish pipe bands, a Celtic Society consisting of students at St. Francis Xavier University, a Celtic Studies program at the University, the Antigonish County Fiddlers, private fiddles classes, step dancing and highland dance lessons, and world class fiddlers, pianists and dancers. Our goal is set on continuing the promotion of Celtic culture and providing a stage to showcase various talented performers from throughout the area and surrounding areas who provide this entertainment. Many seniors enjoy attending the Ceilidhs and our hope is that new generations will enjoy this tradition as well. Any help you may provide in sponsoring the Ceilidh program would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
